Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk Raises Awareness, Funds
Â鶹Íø students in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Association (SBSA) hosted their annual Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk on April 20. Members of the Â鶹Íø community turned out in support of the event to raise awareness and funds to bolster suicide awareness.

Following opening remarks from a representative from the American Federation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), Â鶹Íø Family professor Patrick McElwaine, Psy.D., LPC, served as the guest speaker. Attendees were then invited to share the names of their loved ones lost to suicide and joined in a walk from campus and around Fluehr Park. Raffle baskets and giveaways, including a t-shirt quilt made from shirts from previous walks and donated by Diane Smith, concluded the event.
